Our Mission
The Youth Life Foundation’s mission is to help children develop into leaders
who positively influence their families and communities.
We achieve our mission through the Darrell Green Learning Centers by providing services that nurture the child,
strengthen the family, and rebuild the community.
Isaac's Story
When Isaac joined the first class of students to enter the
center in 1993, he was 12 years old and in the sixth grade.
Isaac grew up in a Northeast Washington D.C. neighborhood troubled
with violence and crime. Seeking a safe haven, Isaac found the
Darrell Green Learning Center. With extensive time and caring
support of the staff at the Darrell Green Learning Center, Isaac grew and
excelled both academically and in the community.
In high school he was afforded the opportunity by Capital Partners to attend
a private high school. He graduated with honors in 2000 from
Archbishop Carroll High School and went on to attend Goucher
College in Baltimore, MD to study Communications and Religious studies.
While in college, Isaac was able to study abroad in London at
the University of Westminster's School of Communications. He
has since, completed his undergraduate work and is currently
attending a seminary school in New York.
Isaac has gained so much from his experience at the DGLC, and he is giving so much
back to help those just like him. Isaac is a role model not
just for the students at Youth Life Learning Centers, but for
many others in his community as well. He is an inspiration to
us all.
